Thiruvananthapuram: M. Vijayakumar, LDF candidate- designate for the Aruvikkara by-poll, Friday said Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan assured him that he would take part in the election campaign.
He was talking to reporters after meeting the CPI(M) veteran at the Cantonment House.
On Monday, Achuthanandan had said he would not campaign for the by-election unless the CPI(M) asked him to do so.
He was apparently miffed that the invitation for the first Left Democratic Front (LDF) election convention did not carry his name. The convention, which was inaugurated by CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, held on Wednesday at Aruvikara.
Kodiyeri had denied the media reports that Achuthanandan was not invited to the poll campaign, alleging that it was a media creation.
