Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan Saturday said he would lead a legal fight against Finance Minister K.M Mani in the wake of the legal adviser of the Kerala Vigilance department dismissing bar bribery charges against him.

“Mani can’t escape from the charges. C.C Augustin, who gave clean chit to Mani, had earlier faced criticism from the High Court in the bar bribery case,” Achuthanandan said.

The legal adviser of the Kerala Vigilance department dismissed charges of the vigilance inquiry team alleging the role of state finance minister KM Mani in the bar bribe scam.

Vigilance department legal advisor CC Augustine said there was no evidence against Mani receiving bribe and extending any undue favour to the bar owners.

The alleged scam surfaced in November last year after Biju Ramesh alleged that K.M Mani had received bribes from the bar owners to reopen the closed bars.
