Kollam: Youth Congress State vice-president C.R Mahesh Saturday said Finance Minister K.M Mani, who is facing corruption charges, should resign from the cabinet.
The Youth Congress leader also came down heavily on Mani for the way he presented the budget, saying that the state budget is not something that to be presented hurriedly.
“The state budget is not a street drama,” Mahesh said adding that “our demand for Mani’s resignation is part of our party’s tradition.”
In November last year, bar owner Biju Ramesh had alleged that Mani had been given a hefty sum on the promise that he would help reopen some closed liquor bars.
A case has also been registered against Mani by the Vigilance department and a probe is currently on.
Following the allegations, Mani has come under heavy onslaught from the Left opposition who demanded that the veteran 81-year-old legislator, who has won every election since 1965, quit as minister and face trial.
