Light Metro: Hibi Eden bats for E Sreedharan

Kochi: Congress MLA Hibi Eden has come out in support of ‘Metro Man’ E Sreedharan, amid harsh criticism and apprehensions raised by the Finance Department towards the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC), who is entitled to execute the proposed Light Metro projects in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram.
The finance department had asked the government to break ties with the DMRC and go for a global tender to select a turnkey consultant to execute the project.
Hibi Eden on Friday said that the projects should be given to DMRC under the supervision of Sreedharan as the state needs his expertise.
“No Light Metro project, executed by a private firm, has been successful anywhere in the world. The project should not be axed just because of the adamant stand of the Finance Ministry,” the young politician said.
