Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan Tuesday sought a probe into the graft allegations raised against former Industries Minister and CPI(M) Central Committee member Elamaram Kareem related to the Malabar Cements corruption case.

“A probe should be ordered into the allegations raised by former MD of Malabar Cements Sundaramoorthy in his confidential statement,” the CPI(M) veteran told reporters.

“Even if the allegation against me, it should be probed. This is my stand,” he said.

Former managing director of public sector Malabar Cements Limited M. Sundaramoorthy in his confidential statement given to the Ernakulam first class judicial magistrate said that former industries minister Elamaram Kareem had had close links with V. M. Radhakrishnan, who is an accused in the Saseendran death case.

The former technocrat also said he was the conduit for transaction of money between Radhakrishnan and the former minister.
