Thiruvananthapuram: The full-fledged budget session of Kerala assembly has been convened from June eight to pass the budget presented in March for the year 2015-16.

The session would be held from June 8 to July 2. After a short recess, it would meet again from July 20 to July 30, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting which decided to recommend the Governor to call the session.

The sitting assumes significance as it is the first session to be held after the unprecedented bedlam over the bar bribery licence scam on March 13 when Finance Minister K M Mani presented the budget.

With the LDF continuing its stir against Mani, the assembly fews days later adjourned sine die after passing the finance and appropriation bills without discussion.

CPI-M led LDF opposition members who protested the presentation of the budget by Mani, facing charges of corruption in the bar scam, created ruckus in the assembly and even ransacked Speaker's podium. There were also scuffle between MLA's of ruling and opposition benches.

LDF in the state was on warpath demanding resignation of Mani for his alleged involvement in the bar scam.

A few women MLAs' of LDF opposition had complained that they were physically harassed by certain Ruling MLAs during the uproar in the assembly.

On the contention of LDF Opposition that budget was not presented in the assembly as per rules and procedures, Chandy said "it was presented and Governor has approved it."
