Wasps attack claims one life in Kerala

Alappuzha: A marriage function at Kayamkulam in the district ended in tragedy Monday after a male relative of the bridegroom was fatally attacked by a swarm of wasps.

Nazer (55) was killed after he was stung by wasps on his head and face just before start of the function in the auditorium near the KSRTC stand at Kayamkulam, police said.

Though he was rushed to hospital, he passed away.

Police said the wasps came out from a nest in the third floor balcony when some people opened a nearby window.

Some other persons were also attacked by the wasps, but their injuries were not serious, they said.
