Proud of my parents, says Roopesh's daughter

Thrissur: Roopesh's daughter Aami Tuesday said the cases registered against her parents were based on fabricated charges.

“I’m proud of my parents. Their fight was for the people’s cause. They have neither attacked the poor nor usurp anyone’s property,” she told reporters.

“I believe that it is the stories spun by the police that are spreading,” she said.

Meanwhile, Maoist leader Rupesh and his wife Shyna, who were arrested Monday near Coimbatore, were interrogated by the police team led by DySP P.Wahid.

Yesterday state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had said that the arrests of Roopesh, wanted in at least 20 cases in Kerala and the four others, was a "big breakthrough" and was made possible by coordinated efforts of police from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
