New Delhi: The Supreme Court Tuesday has ordered an audit of the wealth of the four trusts associated with the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai.
The apex court, while considering the case, also asked the trusts to produce all required documents for the purpose.
“The temple governing committee should bear the expense,” the bench said.
The court has rejected the Travancore royal family's contention that the trusts are autonomous and have no links with the temple.
Former chief government auditor Vinod Rai had submitted his audit report on the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple to the apex court, citing several irregularities in the records maintained by the temple authority.
