Kozhikode: Three persons were injured when a bomb thrown by miscreants into a garment shop exploded at Kuttiadi near here on Friday.

The incident happened Friday morning when a gang that came on motorbikes threw a country-made bomb into a purdah showroom near the bus stand here.

The shop owner Varappurath Veetil Nisar, and two others -- Kunjabdullah and Muhammed -- suffered burns in the explosion. The gang also attacked Nisar with weapons.

Nisar, an SDPI activist, is an accused in the Eenthullathil Veetil Binu murder case.

The injured were later taken to Kozhikode Medical College.

Binu, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) worker, was hacked to death at the Kallachi taxi stand near Nadapuram on June 2, 2001.
