Malappuram: Five people were killed after a tourist bus rammed a lorry at Ayikkarappadi, near Kondotty, in Malappuram district in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased are Ravindran (54), Omana (42), Soorya (13), Devi (67) and Atul (10), all hailing from Mattanur in Kannur.
While four passengers died on the spot, another passed away in Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where all the injured were admitted.
The mishap occurred when the bus tried to overtake the lorry, swerved to avoid an oncoming car and rammed into the rear of the truck.
The passengers were returning after attending a wedding at Salem.
