Kochi: Usha Praveen, daughter of former chief minister E K Nayanar, is a candidate of CPI-M-led LDF in the upcoming elections to Kochi City Corporation- the State’s bustling business hub.
Though the LDF, which released the candidates for 72 corporation seats today, did not announce the candidate for the mayor's post, it is widely speculated that Usha may head the corporation, if she wins the "tough seat" and the Front gets a clear majority in the polls to be held next month.
Usha, who has been fielded from the Ravipuram division of the corporation, said she has no political experience other than being related to the late Nayanar.
The mayor seat for the Kochi corporation is reserved for a woman.
Meanwhile, the LDF's district leadership is learnt to have decided to field Sarada Mohan, daughter of another late CPI leader, former Chief Minister P K Vasudevan Nair, from Kalady division of Ernakulam district Panchayat.
