New Delhi: Terming Cherian Philip’s remarks as unfortunate, CPI(M) politburo member Vrinda Karat Monday demanded him to withdraw the anti-women comments.
“He should withdraw his yesterday’s remarks,” Vrinda Karat told reporters.
Meanwhile, Pinarayi Vijayan came out in support of Cherian Philip, saying that his remarks were not anti-women.
“I don’t think his remarks were anti-women. Some women leaders of the Congress too had expressed the same opinion earlier,” he said.
Cherian Philip’s comments on a Facebook post about some Congress women ticket seekers had yesterday prompted vociferous protests from women politicians cutting across party lines.
