Kochi: A tragedy was averted after a jhankar, which lost control and drifted away to sea, was brought to the shores by the marine enforcement with the help of fishing boats on Saturday morning.
Sources said the jhankar, which operates service in Vypin-Fort Kochi region, lost control due to machine failure after the propeller got caught in algae.
The boat was carrying several passengers and vehicles. The passengers are safe.
