Local body polls in two phases on Nov 2, 5

Thiruvananthapuram: The elections to the local bodies will be held in two phases on November 2 and 5, State Election Commissioner Sasidharan Nair announced Saturday.

With the declaration of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect, he said.

The notification for the polls will be issued October 7.

The last date for filing nominations is October 14. The date of scrutiny is October 15, while candidates can withdraw from the electoral battle by October 17.

Counting of votes for the elections will be held on November 7.

The local body elections will not have the provision for None of the Above (NOTA) vote, the SEC said.
