Kochi: The toll in the last Wednesday's boat tragedy here has risen to eleven with the death of another person on Tuesday.

42-year old Beevi, a resident of Fort Kochi died at a hospital here in the morning.

The Search operation team, comprising of Navy, Coast Guard and Marine enforcement personnel, had recovered two bodies from the backwaters last Friday, making the toll ten.

The mishap happened when the boat, carrying around 35 people, capsized and sank after being allegedly hit by a speeding fishing craft in the harbour mouth off Fort Kochi on August 26.

The boat, which was on its way from Vypin to Fort Kochi, is said to be over three-decades old.

The incident has been termed one of the worst boat tragedies in the state in recent years.
