Kasaragod: The police on Thursday released the sketch of one of the accused in the Kudlu Bank robbery case.
The probe team prepared the sketch based on the eyewitness accounts.
A person has been taken into custody by Kasargod police in connection with the robbery at the Service Co-operative Bank branch at Kudalu in the district.
The person, who resides near the bank, was taken into custody Wednesday night. The police suspect he assisted the robbers.
This is the first such move from the police in the case that shocked the district.
In a daring daylight robbery, a group of five masked men decamped with nearly 21 kg of gold ornaments and Rs 12 lakh in cash from the bank Monday.
Five persons covering their faces, barged into the bank in the afternoon, threatened the some staff and a customer present there and robbed the bank of gold weighing nearly 21kg and cash of about Rs 12 lakh.
The incident occurred when other staff members had gone for lunch. Only two temporary women staff and a customer were in the bank when the incident happened, police said.
The robbers escaped in motorcycles after taking gold kept in bank lockers and cash.
One of the temporary woman staff who resisted the robbers was injured and was admitted to a hospital.
