Kannur: CPI-M on Thursday said that the party had no hostility towards Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Sangom (SNDP).

“The CPI-M has no enmity towards the SNDP. The claims that the party is at loggerheads with them are not true. Our opposition is to a section with a pro-RSS approach,” party general secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Thursday.

“The CPI-M has always opposed such approaches of communal outfits. The party will stick to that stand. No organization should cooperate with RSS which is trying for communal polarization in the society.” Kodiyeri said.

The CPI-M had come under attack from various quarters after pictures of a tableaux in which the 19th century Sree Narayana Guru was seen "crucified" during a procession organised by the party backed outfit Balasangham in politically sensitive Kannur district on September 5 went viral on social media.

Reacting to the incident, the party had said that local leaders had made "an error".
