Give protection for council session of Kochi Corporation: HC

Kochi: The Kerala High Court Wednesday directed the police to give protection for the councilors to attend the council session of the Kochi Corporation.

The court order was on a plea filed by UDF councilors seeking police protection for attending the special council session on the Smart City project scheduled on Wednesday.

“It is part of the constitutional procedure to attend the council sessions. No one can disrupt it. They should be given the police protection to attend the session,” the court said.

The petitioners alleged that police failed to provide protection when a special council session with the same agenda was convened on September 18.
