State media awards announced; Bimal Thampy bags best news photography

Thiruvananthapuram: The state media awards for the year 2014 were announced on Wednesday.

In the news photography section, Bimal Thampy of Madhyamam Daily won the award for his photo with the caption ‘Kakkiyude Kanivinay’ that appeared on February 17.

K.R Gopikrishnan, senior news editor of Media One TV, bagged the award for the best news reader.

Other awardees: S.N Jayaprakash (general reporting – Mathrubhumi), Mahesh Guptan (developmental reporting - Manorama), T.K Sujith (Cartoon – Kerala Kaumudi), Asha Javed (TV reporting - Manorama), T. V Prasad (special mention- Asianet), K.Anoop (News editing - Asianet), N.Bijoj (special mention – Manorama News), V.Manoj and (TV News Cameraman – Manorama News).
