Thiruvananthapuram: DMRC principal adviser E Sreedharan on Tuesday said that the state would not get any benefit from the proposed Vizhinjam seaport project.
“The State Government will end up spending `7000-10,000 crore on the project, with ‘nil’ benefit, Sreedharan said while speaking at the 118th annual session of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) at Willingdon Island.
“All the seaports along the Western Coast of the country are in crisis. I am told that the Vallarpadam ICTT is using only 30 per cent of its capacity, and it was reported the DP World incurred a loss of `400 crore last year. The Kollam Port is also not attracting any traffic,” he said.
