Kochi: The Kerala High Court Thursday rejected P.C George’s plea challenging the proceedings initiated by Assembly Speaker N Shakthan to disqualify him.
The court, while hearing the plea, ruled that it cannot intervene with the Speaker’s order. “The Speaker has the right to deal with Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan’s compliant in the matter,” the court said.
George submitted that the order of the Speaker was invalid and there was no conduct on his part falling within the expression ‘voluntarily giving up membership of that party’.
