Munnar: Tension prevailed in Munnar after the trade union workers allegedly pelted stones at the women plantation workers, who were holding protest under the aegis of the Pempilai Orumai on Wednesday.

Four mediapersons and a policeman were injured in the ensuing clashes.

The police had to resort to lathi charge following the incident.

The women workers, under the banner of Pempilai Orumai, decided to launch the strike after the failure of the second round of talks convened by a cabinet sub-committee.
