Alappuzha: SNDP general secretary Vellapally Natesan Wednesday said his organisation did not want to continue the row over a tableau depicting Sree Narayana Guru on a cross during a procession organised under the aegis of the CPI(M) on September 5.
“The CPI(M) should have apologised in the public over the issue. We don’t want to continue the controversy,” Vellapally told reporters.
Vellappally also slammed the chief minister and KPCC chief for their silence over the matter.
“Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran should have responded to the issue. They were trying to fish in the troubled waters by keeping mum,” he said.
When reporters asked about the incident in which a statue of Sree Narayana Guru was vandalised in Kannur, Vellappally said the real culprits behind the attack were yet to be traced.
