Thiruvananthapuram: Welcoming the High Court order suggesting a CBI probe into the Puttingal temple tragedy, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Wednesday said his government was ready for any type probe into the mishap.

“The government will inform the High Court its stand on the issue after an all-party meeting to be held tomorrow,” Chandy told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

“A sub-committee consisting of Health Minister V.S Shivakumar, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash and Labour Minister Shibu Baby John has been formed to study the destruction caused to civilian property due to the deadly fireworks show. The panel is set to visit the site on Thursday,” the chief minister said.

“The government will wait to hear the views of the various political parties before taking any stand on the issue of banning the fireworks at temples,” he said.

“It was unfortunate that some people had tried to politicise the tragedy,” he added.
