Thiruvananthapuram: A Railway official was suspended for negligence of duty on Monday a day after 12 coaches of Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express derailed at Karukutty near Angamaly.
The Permanent Way Inspector was suspended from the service pending inquiry.
According to reports, preliminary findings have revealed that the derailment of Mangalore Express train at Karukutty on Sunday was caused by staff apathy.
The incident occurred near Karukutty at 2.15 a.m on Sunday.
