Kochi: The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court Wednesday acquitted PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani's father Abdul Samad in a case related to the erstwhile Islamic Sevak Sangh (ISS).

It was on December 13, 1992, that the Kollam Rural Police raided the residence of Ma’dani at Anvasari, Sasthamcotta, based on a tip-off that a secret meeting of the ISS was being held there.

The police had allegedly recovered arms, explosives and banned literature during the raid.

The ISS, which was founded by Ma’dani in 1992, was later banned by the Central government.

The case was transferred from Kollam to Ernakulam, based on a petition filed by the accused.
