Thalayolaparambu: After eight long years, the police on Wednesday arrested the key accused in the murder of Mathew (48) here, which had been registered as a man-missing case, following a revelation by the accused’s father.

The accused, Chettiyamveedu Aneesh (38) of TV Puram, Vaikom, had been on remand in a fake currency case. He was taken to the place where Mathew’s dead body was buried.

The murder that had been considered as a man missing case, witnessed a shocking turn with the revelation of Aneesh’s father, who, on the phone, told Mathew’s daughter Nisi that her father had been killed by Aneesh.

Nisi, who, till then believed that her father had been missing, recorded the phone-conversation and handed that over to the police. Aneesh’s father gave the same statement in front of the police as well, which later led to the arrest of the accused in the case that happened eight years ago.

As per the statement of Aneesh, he killed Mathew following a quarrel over some financial dealings and buried the body at a place where a multi-storey building was built later.

The police are on a mission to find the body out by excavating the basement of the building.
