Thiruvananthapuram: Keralite priest Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who was abducted by the Islamic State in Yemen in March 2015, has appealed to the Indian government to take urgent action for his release.

"I'm deeply saddened as no serious action has been taken to ensure my release," Fr Uzhunnalil said in a video on YouTube.

"My health is deteriorating. I may need to be hospitalized soon. Please help me soon," the priest appealed.

Fr. Uzhunnalil also asked the Church and Pope to intervene for his release.
