Thiruvananthapuram: A show cause notice has been served on the Assistant Commissioner of the police in connection with the assault on former diplomat T.P. Sreenivasan during a protest against the Global Education Meet at Kovalam.

Assistant Commissioner Sudhakara Pillai has been asked to give his explanation on the incident in five days.

On Sunday, State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar on his official Facebook page had said the assault on T.P. Sreenivasan at Kovalam recently as the most shameful episode in the history of the Kerala police in recent times.

Senkumar said that policemen on duty at the spot remained apathetic and indifferent as the former diplomat and vice chairman of the State Higher Education Council was felled by a blow to his head from behind by a student protestor.
