Kannur: CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Saturday said the government was trying to put P. Jayarajan in jail the way PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani was imprisoned.
“Ma’dani has been languishing in jail for 12 years. The CPI(M) cannot be destroyed just by registering cases against the party,” Kodiyeri told reporters.
“Jayarajan had appeared before the CBI twice. He had revealed everything to the probe agency. He was named accused even before the probe team had interrogated him. The CBI did not follow the legal procedures in Jayarajan’s case,” he said.
“The CPI(M) and the Congress should discard the thought of destroying the Left through such actions. The 1965 elections were conducted after sending CPI(M) leaders, including EMS Namboodirippad, to jail. However, CPI(M) became the largest party in the state after the elections,” he added.
