Kochi: BJP national president Amit Shah will reach Ernakulam on Wednesday in a bid to give the party’s state unit a boost ahead of the Assembly polls.

Shah will attend a meeting of party’s state functionaries here and is also expected to hold talks with some religious leaders in Ernakulam before leaving for Kottayam by road.

He will address the party’s Vimochana Yathra, being led by its state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, in Kottayam on Thursday.

Union Ministers, BJP Central and State leaders will attend the programme which is to be held at 4 pm at Nehru stadium. According to BJP leadership, as many as 50,000 people are expected to participate in the function.

It will be the stand of Kerala Congress (M) that will be keenly watched in the changing equations in the state politics when Shah arrives in Kottayam.

Although party Chairman K M Mani had earlier expressed that he was not averse in meeting the BJP chief, he has reportedly dropped the plan.
