Thiruvananthapuram: The state Assembly Monday adjourned for the day after paying tributes to former Speaker and Congress leader A C Jose, who passed away few days ago.

As the House assembled, Speaker N Shakthan made his obituary reference and recalled the contributions of Jose who was the Speaker in the sixth assembly and Chairman of Privileges and Estimates committees.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and leader of Opposition in the assembly V S Achuthanandan also recalled the contributions of Jose, who passed away on January 23 at Kochi.

The 14-day sitting of the 13th Kerala assembly, the last session of the House before the state goes to polls in two months time, had commenced on February 5 on a stormy note with the Opposition members being chided by Governor P Sathasivam to either sit quiet or leave the House when they tried to prevent him from delivering the customary policy address.

The Opposition was protesting demanding resignation of Chandy and other ministers facing corruption allegations in the Solar and Bar bribery scams.
