Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will for the first time host the six-day long International drama festival here.
Drama troupes from Australia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh and different states in India will be taking part in the festival, starting from February 9.
New Delhi-based National School of Drama (NSD) and State Information and Public Relations Department are jointly organising the event at the Tagore theatre here, a press release said.
The formal inauguration of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav will be held at the Tagore theatre on February 9 by Culture Affairs minister, K C Joseph.
Health minister V S Sivakumar, will preside over the function, it said, adding that veteran Malayalam actor Madhu will be the chief guest.
Besides Thiruvananthapuram, the drama festival will be held at Jammu, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar among other cities.
At least 80-odd dramas would be staged during the festival.
