Thalassery: The district sessions court in Thalassery on Tuesday posted to January 18 the hearing on the anticipatory bail application moved by CPI-M district secretary P Jayarajan, who had got notice for the second time in one week to appear before CBI for questioning in connection with Kathiroor Manoj murder case.

The court will send a notice to the CBI seeking the agency’s stand on the bail application. The verdict will be pronounced after a trial based on the explanation of the CBI.

Jayarajan moved the anticipatory bail plea after the CBI served him a second notice to appear before it in the Thalassery office on Tuesday. The agency had earlier served him notice to appear before it, he did not appear citing personal problems.

Jayarajan has alleged that there is a move to arrest and torture him using the CBI. He said that there is a politically motivated move to arrest him to implement the political agenda of the BJP.

It was on September 1, 2014 that RSS leader Elamthottathil Manoj was murdered at Ukkas Motta in East Kathiroor in Kannur district. Manoj was an accused in a case of murder attempt on Jayarajan on August 25, 1999.
