Thiruvananthapuram: DYFI activists Monday waved black flags at excise minister K. Babu, who is facing allegations over the bar bribery case, at PMG junction in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

The protesters, led by V Sivankutty MLA, sought the minister’s resignation in the wake of the bar bribery charges against him.

Following this, police and the protesters clashed with each other. Police resorted to lathicharge after the protesters reportedly pelted stones at them.

K.Babu’s vehicle was blocked for about 20 minutes. However, the minister was brought to the venue through another route and he inaugurated the new building of the Kerala Beverages Corporation.

The Democratic Mahila Association members too reached the place to protest against the minister.
