Kochi: The state government Monday filed an affidavit in the Kerala High Court stating that there was no need of CBI probe into the bar bribery allegations against Excise Minister K.Babu.

V.S Sunil Kumar, MLA, had filed a plea in the court seeking a CBI probe against K. Babu over the bar bribery scam.

Bar owner Biju Ramesh had trained his guns on Babu making revelation that Rs 10 crore was given to the Excise Minister for renewal of licences of liquor bars.

Denying the allegations against him, Babu had challenged Biju to come out with details of the bribe - when, where and to whom the money was paid.

He had also filed a defamation case against Biju stating that it was false allegations with an intention to defame him.
