Thrissur: The Vigilance Court in Thrissur has ordered registration of an FIR against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Power Minister Araydan Mohammed in the view of the bribery allegations leveled against them by solar scam accused Saritha Nair.

The court order is on a plea filed by social activist P D Joseph.

The court rejected the arguments of legal advisor of the Vigilance V K Shailajan that there are several investigations going on at present in the case and an FIR can be registered after a quick verification.

Rejecting the contention, the court said it would give unusual orders in unusual circumstances.

Mentioning a famous saying “Those who ate salt should drink water”, which means one will have to pay off for the crimes he committed, justice S S Vasan said the prime minster and the chief minister have the same justice.

The prime accused in the solar case Saritha S Nair had Wednesday targeted Chandy and Power Minister Arayadan Mohammed while deposing before the Justice Sivarajan Commission in Kochi, probing the case, and had alleged that she had paid bribes to the tune of Rs 1.90 crore to a close aide of the Chief Minister and Rs 40 lakh to Mohammed.
