Vigilance registers FIRs against Adoor Prakash, Kunjalikkutty in land deal case
text_fieldsKochi: A special vigilance unit here on Monday registered FIR against former ministers Adoor Prakash and P K Kunhalikutty in connection with a land case involving controversial godman Santosh Madhavan.
On Saturday, the Vigilance court had ordered the state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to register a case and probe the role of former ministers in the land allotment case.
P Madhavan, Enquiry Commissioner and Special Judge, Muvattupuzha, had also rejected the recommendations of the Vigilance Director, who submitted a Quick Verification Report into the matter, to drop further proceedings, saying it was not based on facts which support allegations contained in the complaint filed by one Girish Babu, a social activist.
During previous UDF rule, Babu had approached the court seeking a direction to register a case against the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Prakash and four others, alleging that there was corruption behind the government order dated March 2, 2016, exempting 95.44 acres in Puthenvelikkara panchayat at Paravur and 32.41 acres at Madathumpadi in Kodungallur from some provisions ofKerala Land Reforms Act dealing with paddy and wetland.
