Kollam: Kerala Congress (B) chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai Saturday said he would not contest in the Assembly election.

“The party is not adamant on the number of seats. The LDF will decide the name of the candidate for the Pathanapuram constituency,” Pillai said adding that his party did not press for the Kottarakkara seat.

“The UDF is mired in corruption. The assembly election will turn out to be a verdict against the UDF government,” he told reporters at the press conference.

When asked about his party’s stand over the media reports that the CPI(M) is likely to field actor Jagadeesh in the Pathanapuram constituency, Pillai declined to react.
