Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Wednesday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against senior Congress leader A K Antony for allegedly making "serious allegations and imputations" against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and the party.

In the complaint, BJP Kerala unit president Kummanam Rajasekharan, said during a recent press meet the former Defence minister had made allegations that BJP's and the Centre's main agenda "was to create communal divide and communal polarisation among the people."

Kummanam said the allegations were "absolutely false and serious in nature" and Antony's attempt was to "violate, healthy and peaceful atmosphere that exists in Kerala so as to create ill will and friction among the voters."

The statements were "highly defamatory and in violation of the Model Code of Conduct and therefore strict action maybe initiated against Antony," he said.

"This is clearly an intentional attempt to create feelings of bitterness, irritation and resentment among the secular voters of Kerala against the BJP & NDA candidates," he alleged.
