Lokayukta unhappy over clean chit to Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram: The Lokayukta Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the Upa Lokayukta’s order giving clean chit to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other UDF ministers.

Lokayukta Justice Pius C Kuriakose, while considering a corruption case against Chandy and Health Minister V.S Shivakumar, observed it was inappropriate for the Upa Lokayukta to express their views in a case that was under the Lokayukta.

The State Information Officer, in a reply to an RTI query, had said that there were 45 cases against the Chief Minister and 18 other ministers.

However, the Upa Lokayukta, in its verdict on a complaint filed by CM’s private secretary, had said that in any of the existing cases with the Lokayukta, no declaration as per Section 14 and no order for trial under Section 15 had been passed so far.
