P. Jayarajan’s plea rejected, cannot enter Kannur district
text_fieldsThalassery: The Principal District and Sessions Court, Thalassery on Monday rejected the plea filed by CPI(M) leader P Jayarajan seeking to relax his bail condition that bars him from entering Kannur district.
Jayarajan filed the plea seeking the court’s permission to enter the district on May 17 and 18.
The Marxist leader stated in the plea that he wanted to meet Dr Ashraf, the cardiac specialist at Pariyaram Medical College on May 17 and to attend the marriage of the daughter of another CPI-M leader and his relative Karayi Rajan the next day.
CBI had in January listed Jayarajan as an accused in the Manoj murder case and framed charges against him under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the case.
He was later awarded bail on condition that the veteran leader cannot enter Kannur district for the next two months.
Manoj (42), a district functionary of RSS, was hacked to death in politically volatile Kathiroor in Kannur district on September 1, 2014, allegedly by a group of CPI(M) workers.
