Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president VM Sudheeran Saturday said a judicial probe should be orderd into the incident of the killing of two Maoists in an alleged encounter in the Nilambur forests.

“Media persons should be allowed to visit the encounter spot,” Sudheeran said, accusing the government of not being able to provide a convincing explanation on the incident.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that he does not believe that the Nilambur shooting was a fake encounter.

"An investigation as per the supreme court verdict should be conducted into the incident. The stand taken by CPI on the incident is immature. The government machinery should be used to contain the maoist menace," he said.
