Aloor to appear for Ameerul Islam in Jisha murder case

Kochi: Advocate B A Aloor, who appeared on behalf of Govindachamy in the Soumya murder case, will appear for Jisha murder case accused Ameerul Islam in the Supreme Court.

The apex court has approved the application filed by Ameer Ul Islam seeking to appoint Aloor as his advocate.

Ameerul was arrested on June 16 for the rape and brutal murder of Jisha, a Dalit woman who hailed from a poor family.

He was arrested on the charge of killing the law student, 50 days after the incident that had become a major issue in the Kerala Assembly elections in May.

The woman, who hailed from a poor family, was raped and brutally assaulted using sharp-edged weapons before being murdered at her house on April 28.

According to the police, a blood-stained footwear found from a canal near the victim's house was one of the key evidences in identifying the culprit.
