Thiruvananthapuram: Treasuries in the State continued to face currency shortage and state received Rs 52 crore in response to its request of Rs 122 crore till Tuesday.

Nearly 42 treasuries did not received any currency till afternoon, a release from State Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac office said here.

The Finance department has started releasing the social welfare pension through co-operative banks and commercial banks.

Due to shortage of notes in co-operative banks, the pensioners were finding difficult to get their pension amount, the release said.

State has requested the concerned authorities to solve the currency shortage problem, the release added.
