State police to take part in ‘No Honking Day’ observance

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala police will take part in the observance of International Noise Pollution Awareness Day, which falls on April 26, in the state.

State police chief, DGP Loknath Behera has directed all district police chiefs to take necessary action to observe the day in their respective jurisdiction.

The direction was made based on the request of Indian Medical Association, who plans a national initiative for safe sound to mark the day.

“Indian Medial Association has decided to give a message to the people of the state of Kerala by declaring that day as a No Honking Day in our state,” the directive said.

Rahul R Nair IPS, Assistant Inspector General of Police is nominated as the coordinator for representing the state police in the initiative.

He was directed to submit a compliance report after the observance, it added.
