CM Pinarayi Vijayan should relinquish Home portfolio: Chennithala

Thiruvananthapuram: The UDF on Tuesday attacked Chief Minister Piarayi Vijayan over continuing incidents of violence in the State and asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to relinquish the Home portfolio.

Talking to the media, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the Home portfolio should be given to someone who has ‘time’.

“The peaceful environment in the State is facing a threat. The Home department has 'lost' control over the police. Four persons died in political attacks recently in the constituency of the Chief Minister alone,” Chennithala said.

“While two persons were killed in gunda attacks in my constituency, another person lost life in a similar attack the neighbouring constituency. The CM has no time to look into all that,” the Congress leader said.

He announced that he would launch a 12-hour satyagraha at Haripad seeking immediate and meaningful actions against gunda gangs.
