Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the LDF government would not conceal corruption, no matter who did it.

“The government will not protect corrupt officials. We still have faith in Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Jacob Thomas,” Vijayan said while talking about the report of Chief Secretary S.M. Vijayanand against Jacob Thomas at a press conference here.

“Some of the points mentioned in the report submitted by the Chief Secretary against the Vigilance Director are true. The government sought legal advice to have clarification on those points,” he added.

The Chief Minister had sought legal advice on a recommendation for a probe into a contract issued during Jacob Thomas' earlier posting that caused a loss to the exchequer.

Vijayan had forwarded the report, submitted by the Chief Secretary in December last, to the Director General of Prosecution for advice.

The report prepared by the Finance Department headed by Additional Chief Secretary K.M. Abraham suggested removal of Thomas from the present post.

Senior Indian Police Service officer Thomas, as Ports Director a few years ago, was accused of causing financial loss to the state.
