Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition Congress-led UDF Monday observed black day in various parts of Kerala, taking out marches in protest against the central ban on sale of cattle for slaughter.

UDF workers took out marches and wore black badges as part of the protest.

The ruling CPI-M said it would organise evening dharnas at 2,000 places across the state on June 2.

The protests will be held from 4 PM in public places in panchayats, municipalities and corporation areas, CPI-M state secretariat said in a press release.

The new rules were part of the Centres move to "implement the RSS agenda", it alleged.

CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran said to overcome the central notification on cattle ban, the state government should come out with a new law.

The Centres new law was against the Constitution, he told reporters at Kannur.
